Our Mission

At BFA, our mission is to bring together all available knowledge and resources in order to help families and businesses that find themselves in difficult financial circumstances. We constantly gather updated information from local professionals, the Internet, news and government sources to provide you the best advice. We also maintain a list of local resources, both charitable and professional, to help you find the services you need while steering clear of scams and unscrupulous businesses.

Michigan residents need trustworthy help, and we're here to provide it.

What Do We Do?

BFA is not like any other debt-workout or financial education organization! We've carefully built our network of people and information to allow us to specialize in "tough cases", where the right path to take may not be obvious, or may require access to different programs or the assistance of carefully-selected professionals. We give the kind of detailed, individually-tailored information that trims time and money off the regular processes associated with foreclosure, bankruptcy, credit-card workouts, and more.

Here are some of the services BFA can provide:

  • We offer comprehensive face-to-face counseling on an individual basis, geared towards foreclosure-prevention and assisting people who have lost income or who have credit or debt problems.
  • We can provide referrals to professionals and programs that we've reviewed and deemed trustworthy, as well as information on how to avoid scams and find trustworthy businesses.
  • We make our counselors available by email and telephone at no charge, to provide the greatest convenience and utility for people in need.
  • We have certified MSHDA counselors on staff who can provide the homebuyer education course required by the state to receive a new MSHDA loan. We offer classes every week in Taylor, MI.
  • We are available to speak at town hall meetings and seminars.
  • We reguarly write and publish informative articles with useful information for people who are in, or might someday be in, financial trouble.
  • Also, we've written this book...
